Have you heard that Sunday, May 31, is a VERY BIG DAY?

It is called Pentecost Sunday. Although Pentecost comes around every year (in scripture it is a feast day known as Shavuot in Leviticus 23:15-22), I believe this Pentecost will be special and will get our attention. After all, GOD IS DOING A NEW THING!

In Acts chapter two, Pentecost is the very day the Holy Spirit came from Heaven for the first time to fill God’s people with his power, presence, and supernatural gifts of the Spirit in order to begin the early church. I believe this Sunday will be the beginning of a SURGE of the Spirit of God to empower us as God’s people to demonstrate His beautiful gospel in supernatural ways in 2020 and beyond. Let me share why.

When I began studying more about the Holy Spirit about 6 years ago, I realized every christian is able to hear the voice of God. Honestly, this was a complete game changer in my own life! My life has completely transformed by hearing the Lord speak incredible LOVE over me and has driven me to sit daily with Him spending time listening and hearing His heart. This developed into a treasured close relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He desires this with every single one of YOU.

Several years ago, He began speaking to me about an outpouring of His Holy Spirit that would change everything. Over time I realized He would talk about it quite frequently and heard Him describe the coming event as a SURGE of His presence, an avalanche, a geyser, and a flood, just to name the ones that come to mind quickly. He said we were entering a NEW ERA where we would experience new things NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE. Remember, our Father is the best “daddy” in existence. He isn’t going to give you a rock instead of bread! (Luke11:11-13) He gives GOOD GIFTS to His children.

So how do we surrender to this NEW THING God wants to do? I know I want the “NEW” Jesus wants to give, but change is hard. Familiarity is comfortable. Like an old shoe! But eventually those old comfortable shoes wear out and need to be discarded. One day the Lord said to me,

“Ashley. Get ready. Get set. YIELD!”

He began to talk to me about yielding. The definition is to give up and cease resistance or contention; submit.

The Lord began to explain yielding to his Spirit as compared to floating down a river. He said the ride would be wild at times but He would always be right beside us, whispering direction and inspiration into our heart and soul. The key is floating and letting the current move you. When you stand up in the river, you STOP with no more forward motion. He said we must learn to yield, listen, and float in the current. The current of His Spirit. He said,

“This is a strong current…but the empowerment and swift speed comes in the floating, not the standing. Cling to Me: you will not drown. The waters will to sweep over you. For I am with you, my strong arm is constantly holding you steady. Revelation and wisdom will come to all who listen and cling to me (abide). Yes, lean on Me. Talk to Me every moment. Turn your heart towards me and connect. Even in the presence of people, let Me be your magnificent obsession.”

The Song of Songs was written by King Solomon to his bride.  So why would it be in the bible? Scholars say it is a prophetic song between Jesus and His bride (that’s you and me). Jesus invites you to come closer so He can whisper His love to you.  His perfect love casts out every fear of the unknown- even wild river rides! Encountering His love teaches our heart to trust Him.

The Bridegroom King speaking: “ Arise, my dearest. Hurry, my darling. Come away with me! I have come as you have asked to draw you to my heart and lead you out. For now is the time, my beautiful one. The season has changed, the bondage of your barren winter has ended, and the season of hiding is over and gone. The rains have soaked the earth and left it bright with blossoming flowers. The season for singing and pruning the vines has arrived. I hear the cooing of doves in our land, filling the air with songs to awaken you and guide you forth. Can you not discern this new day of destiny breaking forth around you? The early signs of my purposes and plans are bursting forth. The budding vines of new life are now blooming everywhere. The fragrance of their flowers whispers, “There is change in the air.” Arise, my love, my beautiful companion, and run with me to the higher place. For now is the time to arise and come away with me.”

Song of Songs 2:10-13 TPT

This invitation is to YOU. Come away with your Beloved Bridegroom-King. He wants to tell you who you are to Him. He will astound you with His steadfast loving-kindness. Holy Spirit will tell you secrets and speak about things to come. Hold your hands to heaven and YIELD to this increase God is bringing! Hallelujah!
