The year 2020 will definitely go down in the history books as one we will remember. I remember the Lord telling me in the fall of 2019 that a shift was coming. I never imagined that this “shift” would literally change life as we knew it. CoronaVirus. Quarantines. Shut-downs. Shortages. Fear. These things were the enemy’s plans to wreak havoc on the USA and the world…but God is using them to SHIFT us into alignment with His plans for revival for the earth.
A Call for Repentance
On August 3rd, I awoke from sleep with 2 Hebrew words playing in my head on repeat. They were YOM TERUAH and TESHUVAH. By the way, I don’t know Hebrew, but from my past study of the Feasts of the Lord, I recognized them, but didn’t know the meanings. Yom Teruah means “Day of Blowing Trumpets”. This is another term for the Feast of Trumpets (also called Rosh Hashana). It is one of the 7 Feasts of the Lord explained in Leviticus and just occurred on September 18 &19th. It was followed by the Feast of Atonement on September 28, which historically has always been a day of fasting and repentance. (Leviticus 23:23-32) The other word that I heard the Holy Spirit whispering to me, Teshuvah, means REPENTANCE, or TO RETURN. I began to see that repentance is a big thing on the Father’s heart right now.
America has been slowly turning away from our godly foundations. Although the enemy (Satan) is trying to take away our freedom, we have not reached the point of no return. Like the story Jesus told of the prodigal son, the Father in the parable waits eagerly to embrace his returning son. God our Father who gave his son Jesus to die for the sins of the world (John 3:16), “stands on the porch waiting”…even longing for his precious sons and daughters to come home and RETURN TO HIM with passionate love. He longs for all people to turn away from sin, idols, and selfish ambition and TURN TO HIM in repentance.
As I sat with the Lord one morning, I heard Him say:
I desire restoration for this land. As my people begin to RETURN to me, I will RETURN TO YOU and your nation with the Spirit of healing. Not just an insurgence of signs, wonders, and miracles for the healing of your bodies and hearts, but also a Spirit of healing for racial discord, division, and torment.
““Yet from the days of your fathers you have turned away from My statutes and ordinances and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD of hosts.” Malachi 3:7 AMP
He is a good, good Father! It’s not just a popular song. He invites us to return to Him despite the ways we’ve turned away.
National and Global Prayer for Repentance in Our Nations Capitol
The last weekend in September, some friends and I from Watermarked Ministries went to Washington D.C. to pray for our nation. We felt we were supposed to go pray at specific buildings of influence. We planned to go to the Capitol, the Supreme Court, and the White House.
Early Saturday morning, I heard the Lord say, “This will be a historic day of TURNING. The tide is turning. I will overturn the wickedness in this nation with My Bride arising. The gateways of righteousness are opening to create a TURNAROUND.” My heart was so overwhelmed with the mercy of the Father in hearing these words!
I was so excited to see the incredible amount of people at the National Mall when we arrived. It was evident the people of God had felt the Lord calling their heart to pray for repentance for the USA. At noon that day, Franklin Graham led a prayer walk through the National Mall from the Lincoln Memorial to the U.S. Capitol in which 100,000 people were in attendance (pictured above)! People came from all different geographical locations to humble themselves before God Most High to pray in repentance for sin, for President Trump, and for the nation to RETURN TO GOD.
As the prayer walk was happening, another event was being simultaneously held on the National Mall near the Washington Monument called THE RETURN, led by Jonathan Cahn. According to their website, The Return is “an end-time movement with one purpose: to return to God- individually, nationally, globally- and the end-goal of world revival.” What I loved about this event was the unity they demonstrated in seeking the Father’s forgiveness through repentance. Various denominations, including messianic Jewish believers, laying down differences to join hands as one to RETURN to the LORD. It was so amazing! Such diversity, yet such unity…like Heaven!
How does this affect YOU and ME?
Do you need to return to Him? Revival starts with ME. And YOU. It starts with humbling ourselves in prayer, seeking His face, and turning from our sinful ways (2 Chronicles 7:14). He hears every prayer of a humble repentant person. He is longing for each of us to come close to Him in intimate relationship.
